Color of Light - Born to Paint is the work of an artist using nothing but fluorescent paint. Reminds me of that Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode of that frat party where they paint each other, but this is done with a little more artistic expression that blend eccentric color schemes for a colorful realization.

Video Games in the Real World

I am one of those 8-bit guys that would gladly plug in my old Nintendo or Sega game system. I do not own an Xbox, Wii, or a Playstation, so when I came across the series Video Games vs. Real Life by Aled Lewis on Flickr. I got a bit of nostalgic to see some of my favorite characters from my childhood in the real world.

Pop-Up Book Covers

Similar to the concept of Sleeveface. This installment uses novels to augment parts of the book covers into 3D details of interactions of characters.

Artist Thomas Allen creates these impressive images cutting out the people and creatures on the covers and photographing them.

Chopstick Tree

When an agency and a Chinese environmental group collaborate you can visualize environmental impact of just about anything. In this installation a clever representation of disposable wooden chopsticks on the streets of downtown Shanghai in the shape of a tree.

According to the China Environmental Protection Foundation, every year the Chinese consumes 45 billion pairs of disposable wooden chopsticks which equal around 25 million trees.

To raise awareness about the problem, the foundation went around Shanghai and gathered 30,000 pairs of used disposable chopsticks from the city's restaurants. They built a tree in a busy district of the city – and chopped it down.

Illegal Rainbows

Rainbows have reflected on this blog previously, however didn't reoccur as often as this street artist has been improving dull building facades.

In an ongoing series titled Illegal Rainbows, an unknown artist dubbed the Rainbow Warrior is using spilled paint to pour rainbows off the tops of buildings in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In an interview with the street artist, the rainbows are a way to cope with depression. However, city officials don't see anything socially good about defacing buildings. You be the judge.



Here's to your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
